anne boudreau collage: hope
hope This series of mixed media collages began in 2005 during a residency for displaced gulf coast artists at the Santa Fe Arts Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Unlike my three-dimensional endeavors, my process for making collages is far more spontaneous and often spans lengthy periods of time. I combine appropriated imagery (collected bits and digital downloads made into acrylic transfers) with fabric and acrylic paint. Typically the collages reflect some aspect of an event, place or mundane phenomena that I experience.

At the end of 2000 I moved back to New Orleans from South Carolina. These four collages were created in the first year or so of being back in the city of my birth. It was a transitional time on many fronts. Finding a balance between my living environment, studio work and teaching was paramount at this time.
